There are two ways to earn rewards, and they work a little differently. Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions about the rewards earned when you make a purchase and use Accrue to pay with your bank.
If you earned rewards for your deposits while saving with Accrue, you can find FAQs about those rewards here: FAQs about Rewards
I’ve paid with my bank account using Accrue. How do I actually use the reward I earned?
You’ll get an email from us after you complete your purchase. You can click the link in that email to claim your reward. You’ll see your wallet balance reflect any rewards you’ve earned from paying with your bank account.
To spend your merchant credit, click the “Spend” at the bottom of your wallet home page. There you’ll see instructions for completing a purchase with your wallet balance
Where do the rewards come from?
When you make a payment with a debit or credit card, merchants are required to pay processing fees. However, if you choose to pay directly from your bank account, these fees are reduced. With Accrue’s Pay by Bank option, merchants can save on these fees and pass the savings on to you.
By paying through Accrue with your bank account, you’ll receive cashback towards your next purchase with the merchant. This amount will be credited to your Accrue wallet, which you can access anytime.
How do I earn rewards?
When you make a purchase by bank with a merchant you will earn rewards from that purchase. You will receive an email that you can create an account with Accrue Savings to claim those rewards. Once you create the account you can spend those rewards or make deposits
Your reward amount can increase as you make deposits and actively work towards your savings. It can also decrease for inactivity. Your account is considered inactive after 30 days of no action, The best way to guarantee the most rewards for your purchase is to keep your account active by depositing at least monthly towards your goal.
Can I earn more rewards?
Yes! You can make other purchases at the merchant with your bank account and earn more rewards, Or you can make deposits directly into your Accrue wallet and earn rewards for every deposit you make towards a future purchase!
How are rewards applied if I spend less than my wallet balance?
When you earn rewards by paying with your bank account, those rewards will be used first before any deposits you’ve made.
If you’ve also been saving with Accrue and earned rewards on your deposits, those will be applied to your purchase on a prorated basis along with your deposits.
For example, if your balance is $550—consisting of $50 in rewards from paying by bank, $400 in deposits, and $100 in rewards from those deposits—and you make a $300 purchase, the $50 bank payment reward would be applied first. This leaves $250 to pay, which would be covered by $200 from your deposits and $50 from the rewards on those deposits. The remaining $250 would stay in your account for future use or until you decide to withdraw.
What if I spend more than my wallet balance?
We offer a buffer amount to make your purchase in case the amount is over your savings goal. If you spend more than what is in your savings, we will issue a one-time transaction from your payment source to cover the remainder.
